Focus group and audience feedback.
Below are some recordings from two seperate focus groups. We chose to do two so that we would have a variety of opinions from different age groups. We filmed the handing out of the questionnaires and the viewing of the trailer. The focus groups were with both year nine and twelve. Although our age certificate is 18 we wanted to see how the younger group would react and whether or not they felt it was appropraite for them to be watching. We do not feel this is inapropriate as trailers are played all over television and amongst websites with no age restriction, making them easily accessible.
YEAR NINE FOCUS GROUP |
YEAR TWELVE FOCUS GROUP |
Here is the questionnaire we handed out and we will be showing our results using a variety of charts. We handed them out to a total of 30 people.
Questionnaire Results
In total, there were 30 people in our 2 focus groups. These are the results out of 30.
1) did you like the film trailer?
(Just a few examples)
‘’I liked it because it gave a thrill [and it made me] wonder what was going to happen next’’
‘’very scary’’
‘’yes because the music built suspense and the camera angles made it look like a real film’’
‘’created tension’’
‘’it made me jump!’’

4) Do you feel the setting and costume was effective?
6) Do you think the setting was appropriate?
8) Could you tell there were several music tracks being played at once?
10) Do you feel the choice of characters was appropriate for this genre?
|
3) Would this trailer make you want to go watch the film in the cinema?
5) Do you think the special effects created tension?
7) Did you understand the plot line?
9) Did you like this effect?
From our results we can see that the trailer was overall effective in agreeing with the codes and conventions of an actual trailer. The audience responded well to the trailer and couldn't tell we used multiple music tracks. |
After receiving results through our focus group and questionnaire, we chose to get further responses by uploading our trailer onto social networking sites. Firstly we uploaded our video onto Facebook and below are our likes and comments.
Above is the amount of likes we received and below are the comments we received, which all seem to be positive.
Here are our results after checking back to our Facebook account a week later. Our trailer went up by five likes.
Below is our trailer on Youtube and our hit count reached 61 after one day. We will put up another print screen later on to see if our views increase.
Here is a post i put onto twitter, including the Youtube link to our trailer. We only got back one response on this networking site, i feel that this may of been because you are unable to leaves comments or show likes, making it harder to give their response.
