POSTER IDEAS AND DEVELOPMENT OF FINAL POSTER
Here is a presentation showing my development of ideas and what my initial thoughts were when looking into different forms of Horror posters.

I also chose this draft because I think it will work well against a white backdrop when I can create a shadow using studio lighting.
FURTHER DEVELOPING IDEAS
Below are some seperate shots i have taken of the Protagonist and Antagonist to show the element of horror. I took these shots against a white backdrop to really allow the characters to stand out. I have done this by trying to make Matt alot larger to resemble a shadow/silhouette. I did all my editing within photoshop and enhanced the lighting and colours etc to give an accurate outcome. This will help give mystery to who the Antagonist is. Emily has been made birghter using studio lighting to allow her face to glow and portay innocence in comparison to matt.
I made many developments and combined each shot to make the final poster.

Above is the before image and i have darkened matt to really capture the shadow effect. I havent made it too dark as i like the effect that the small amount of light gives by picking out just enough of his features to look scary.
I then attempted to crop the image to just be a hand, allowing a further mystery as to who the evil character is. I don't really like the outcome as it looks very fake and not very realistic. Also this doesnt allow much room for my Title and catch line. |
Although i feel that the shadow effect is very successful its a lot harder to make out and looks as if his hand is piercing through his head.
I like the dripping blood effect but feel it would look most effective from an actual font rather than using photoshop to edit it. I look into some famous horror film posters and these three below all include a blood red font which really stand outs.
Here are three Horror film posters that i selected from the website http://impawards.com/1975/rocky_horror_picture_show.html. They are all very similar and include a bold title in capitals, also all titles are red and are really bold. My title isnt as successful as the ones above so i have chosen to develop my title to stand out and resemble Horror. I made it bolder, thicker, brighter and i cut out the blood as it didnt look realistic.
I then changed the font again keeping the colour the same, but i don't like how this font looks and will continue to experiment. I also feel that the image is too pale and not to its best potential.

I am now happy with the font and it will also be used on Elaine's poster so that it is obvious that we are advertising the same film. I like how the font incorporates what looks like a dagger, hinting toward the plot behind the film. I also added in the text and date at the bottom similar to the majority of posters.
|
I went on to research what font was used as my paragraph didn't look anything like the posters I had researched. I found the font and make particular sections smaller in the same way they do on the posters I looked into. I also finalised it by adding the certificate rating so that it appeals to our target audience.

This is the final edit and I changed the colouring using www.befunky.com which is a great editing website. I also added the caption back in and made it larger so that it is more visible.
